Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the GCSE Boss iOS app and the gcseboss.com website (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. Who we are

GCSE Boss is a trading name of Apavai Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (Company No. 17036797), registered office 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ. Contact: our contact form.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 16, a parent or legal guardian must consent to your use of the Service and to the linking of a parent account. By creating an account, you confirm you meet these requirements.

3. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for any activity that occurs under your account. Don't share your password. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.

Paid accounts allow up to two parents to link to a student. Family plans cover up to two students on one subscription. Each student remains the primary holder of their own account and may unlink parents at any time.

4. Subscriptions

GCSE Boss offers two paid plans, billed monthly or annually. Premium is £4.99/month or £24.99/year and covers one student plus up to two linked parents. Family is £8.99/month or £44.99/year and covers up to two students plus up to two linked parents. Subscriptions are processed by Apple via your Apple ID and managed for us by RevenueCat.

Auto-renewal: Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Renewal will charge your Apple ID at the rate shown at the time of renewal.

Cancellation: You can cancel anytime from Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions on your iPhone. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Premium access until then. We do not provide partial refunds for unused subscription time.

Refunds: Apple manages refunds via the App Store. Requests should be submitted through your Apple ID account.

Price changes: If we change plan pricing, we'll notify you in advance. You can cancel before the change takes effect if you don't agree to the new price.

6. Content and AI-generated material

The Service uses AI (Google Gemini) to generate explanations, practice questions, and homework scan analysis. AI-generated content may contain errors. Use it as a study aid, not as the definitive source for exam answers. Always check answers against your textbook, teacher, or exam board mark scheme where stakes are high.

We do not warrant that AI-generated content is accurate, complete, or fit for any specific purpose. You are responsible for verifying anything you rely on for actual exam preparation.

7. Intellectual property

The GCSE Boss app, website, and underlying platform (including code, design, branding, and aggregated content) are our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them.

Specification points referenced in the app remain the intellectual property of the respective UK exam boards (AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR, WJEC/Eduqas, CCEA). We use them under fair use for the purpose of educational reference.

Anything you submit to the Service (e.g. your quiz answers, mood check-in responses, homework images) remains yours; you grant us a licence to process it as needed to deliver the Service.

8. Service availability

We aim to keep the Service available, but we don't guarantee uptime. We may need to perform maintenance, fix bugs, or change features without prior notice. Offline Mode lets you continue revising for short periods without network connectivity, but live features (parent dashboard sync, AI generation) require an internet connection.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from inside the app or via our contact form.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or for other lawful reasons (e.g. extended inactivity, fraud). Where reasonable, we'll provide notice and an opportunity to fix the issue first.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Limitation of liability

Subject to clause 10, our total liability to you in connection with the Service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the liability. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost grades, missed deadlines, or any educational outcome.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any third-party claim arising from your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction grants you the right to bring claims locally.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you via the app or email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
